My 30-year career is balanced across academic editing and academic research (social
sciences). So, I bring to editing my own substantial experience of both researching and
publishing at the highest levels in my field and applying successfully for competitive and
other research funding. I have held university positions in Australia, Denmark, and Finland.

Substantive editing, copy editing, proofreading, advice on manuscripts and publication.

Subject matter experience

Academic, especially social sciences and humanities, and public policy, though I have edited across all fields.

Genre and platform

Funding applications (e.g. grants, fellowships) and awards, larger texts (e.g. books, edited collections), research papers and reports, theses.

Specific projects

I am author/editor of around 90 publications, including eight books and substantial texts
(2000+ citations, h-index 23), and I have received around $1.8m in competitive and other
research funding. I have undertaken editing roles at the ANU in staff development (3 years)
and student support (6 years). My recent freelance editing projects include:

  • read/advised on previously published materials for potential collection and
    publication as a book
  • completed substantive editing for a funding application to the Australian Research
  • edited a research paper for submission to a journal
  • advised on and edited three funding applications for a charity
  • edited and proofread a book manuscript (85,000 words) (published in 2021)
