About the course

Would you like to learn more about creating accessible documents? If so, this course could be just for you.

Vision Australia will provide interactive virtual training that demonstrates the fundamentals of how to create accessible electronic documents using Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro.

You will gain an understanding of general accessibility issues and why you need to provide accessible content. You will learn how to create PDF documents to WCAG 2.0 Level AA compliance, and MS Office documents that are fully optimised for accessibility.

The sessions will include:

  • PowerPoint presentations
  • videos displaying common issues with Word and screen readers
  • live demonstration of how to apply techniques using the appropriate software
  • individual application of techniques and practical learning exercises
  • digital handbook (about 150 pages) including step-by-step instructions.

Date: Friday 21 May AND Monday 24 May. You must attend both sessions.

Time: 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm (including a short break) on each day.

Who: anyone who creates digital documents.

Where: Zoom online. A link will be provided to participants.

Pre-requisites: A basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat Pro is recommended. You will require Microsoft Word (if possible 2016) and Adobe Acrobat PDF (Pro or DC) installed on your computer to take part in remote training. If you do not have these already, you may be able to install trial versions (subject to the software owner’s agreement).
