For details of future meetings, scroll to the end.

Date: Wednesday, 31 August 2022
Time: Room opens at 5:45 pm (on site), 6:30 pm (webinar)
Further details below.

As the possibility of traditional publishing becomes more limited and vanity publishing more expensive, authors have increasingly been turning to self-publishing. Self-publishing agencies vary considerably in terms of their charges, services offered, the rights they accord authors and the requirements of editors who work on manuscripts that are to be self-published. If you’d like to learn more about the self-publishing industry, come along to this meeting or tune in on Zoom.

About the presentation

William will be interviewed by Kaaren Sutcliffe, an accredited editor and fantasy with romance fiction writer. Kaaren is publishing her new trilogy through the Inspiring Publishing imprint of ASPG and has first-hand experience in working with William and his team.

The Q and A session will cover:

  • how ASPG was established
  • an overview of their approach and services offered
  • comments on the current state of the industry and how self-published authors are faring
  • what makes for successful self-publishing
  • key tips for editors working with author clients who might be interested in self-publishing.

William attends the International Book Fairs to help promote the work of clients and has some interesting stories to share.

Join us for what promises to be an engaging and lively discussion. Bring your questions!

About William and the ASPG

William Webster is the Managing Director of the Australian Self-Publishing Group, a Cooperative Publishing agency, where the author retains full control over their rights and books – an important distinction from a vanity press.

Established over a decade ago, ASPG is based right here in Canberra and offers authors a broad range of publishing package options. The ASPG imprint publishes mainly fiction, memoirs, poetry, niche books, non-commercial family and friend books, and authors who just want to have their work in print.

Inspiring Publishers is a hybrid publisher and is the international imprint of ASPG. Hybrid publishers follow a strict code and adhere to professional publishing standards, regardless of who pays for editorial, design and production fees. Inspiring publishes mainly business, self-help, how to, and mind, body and spirit books, as well as emotional healing novels, and children's books that teach something.
