It’s all apolitical

5:45pm, Wednesday 29 August 2018
Ferguson Room, upstairs at the National Library of Australia, Parkes Place
Light refreshments before and after; all welcome

CSE member Geoff Dawson will speak about the life of a Hansard editor and what exactly goes into preparing parliamentary speeches for print. Learn about the tricks of editing normal speech so that it reads well when written down (it’s more challenging than you might think). And no, Cognate Bills are not twin brothers.
Geoff spent his major career as an organiser, researcher, writer and editor in parliamentary committees. He retrained in 2014 to focus on editing and now works part time as a Hansard editor in the Department of Parliamentary Services.
