Editors conference: Earlybird registration due by 20 June

 

The earlybird closing deadline for Australia’s biennial national editors conference has been extended until 20 June 2011.

The conference celebrates the art of editing and the profession of editor under the theme: ‘New Horizons for Editing and Publishing’. This encompasses traditional and electronic publishing, with streams covering: trade (fiction and nonfiction); academic, education and technical; and government and corporate publishing. Keynote speakers include Linda Shopes, supported by the CAL Cultural Fund, on editing oral history and Alexandra Nahlous on ‘New Horizons for the Editor’.

The program of workshops, presentations and social events will cover trends, innovations and new markets across all genres of editing. It offers editors a fabulous opportunity to upskill, network and discuss where the profession is heading.

Conference events will take place from 7 to 9 September. A Gala Dinner, sponsored by John Wiley & Sons, is on Friday evening, 9 September. On Saturday 10 September Style Council will host a one‐day conference and dinner. Optional excursions and social events take place between 7 and 11 September.

The earlybird rate of just $320 is available to members of Australian Societies of Editors. It includes the main conference (2 days) and the cocktail party reception.
