Have you ever wished for an easier, more efficient and effective way of editing?
The speaker at our next general meeting, Dr Hilary Cadman, loves creating training materials for fellow editors – she is passionate about helping editors to work faster and more effectively.
Hilary will demonstrate how she uses her favourite editing tools – PerfectIt, PhraseExpress, Editor’s Toolkit Plus and Word styles and templates – when tackling an editing job. She will explain how, why and when she uses a combination of these different tools. Hilary will also talk about why training is so important for professional editors.
After the presentation we will provide you with further details about the online training courses Hilary runs on each of the four tools. Hilary is offering CSE members a 30% discount, valid for one week, on the purchase of any of those courses. She is also offering to do a Zoom Q&A on one of those topics for CSE members who sign up to the online course. All courses have lifetime access.
About Hilary
Hilary had a 20-year career in science, working in France, Scotland and Zimbabwe. She then went back to university to do a Masters in Science Communication, which included a month at CSIRO in Canberra. There, a chance meeting with Janet Salisbury of Biotext led her into a career in science editing. After 10 years with Biotext, Hilary went freelance in 2009. She now lives in Bellingen, in rural NSW, where she continues to run her thriving editing business and attempts to build the training side of the business.
